Biomet Rolls Out Mobile Learning CenterTo help educate doctors and patients alike, Biomet rolled out its Biomet Sports Medicine Mobile Learning Center to the media Thursday afternoon.

The mobile learning center will travel to hospitals and surgical centers around the U.S. to give orthopedic surgeons, as well as their support staff, the opportunity to work with Biomet products.

The launch of the learning center coincides with three featured products from Biomet.

The MaxFire MarXmen Menisical Repair Device, JuggerKnot and InnerVue II are all products being offered by Biomet.

The JuggerKnot is next-generation suture anchor technology while InnerVue II is a diagnostic scope system.

The mobile learning center will be rolled out starting Wednesday at the American Orthopedic Society For Sports Medicine in Providence, R.I. That meeting runs through July 18.

"It's definitely a tool that helps us educate surgeons, patients as well as our sales reps," said Andrew Holst, director of marketing with Biomet Sports Medicine.

The bus was manufactured in Nacogdoches, Texas, by Foretravel Inc., according to Biomet founder and current board member Dane Miller.

The process of getting the mobile learning center up and operational took about two months.

Among the features on it include hands-on demonstration stations as well as knee and shoulder models for use with arthroscopic cameras.

There are also flat screen televisions on board that show animations and surgical procedures.

Once it hits the road, the mobile learning center will stay out for a month, going to different hospitals and surgery centers.

Bill Kolter, corporate vice president of government affairs, public affairs, and corporate communication, said the mobile learning center is also used to not only better equip surgeons but also make the patients themselves better educated.
