Billy J. ThompsonMENTONE – Billy J. Thompson, 69, of rural Claypool, passed at 11:08 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Parkview Randallia Hospital of Fort Wayne.
Billy was born on April 23, 1953, in Warsaw, to Earl and Ruby Alderfer Thompson. He was married on July 16, 1999, in rural Claypool, to LaDonna Meyer O’Dell; she survives. They spent 41 years together and 24 years of marriage.
He was a 1971 graduate of Mentone High School. Billy worked for 30 years for Producers Marketing Associates, which later became known as Indiana Livestock Exchange, of Mentone. He also worked for over 35 years for Evans Auction Service and Metzger Property Services. He loved Indiana University sports and the Chicago Cubs as well as anything John Deere.
He is survived by his wife, LaDonna Thompson, of Claypool; parents, Earl and Ruby Thompson, of Claypool; stepson, Shawn and wife Sharon O’Dell, of Danville, Ky.; grandchildren, Gage O’Dell and Cassie and husband Jake Bieszczak, both of Danville, Ky.; a sister, Peg Bailey, of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Betty Thompson, of Mentone; and several nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Duane Thompson.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.
Memorial contributions can be made in his to Beaver Dam Church/Wheels on Fire to assist the community members who are fighting cancer.
