ROCHESTER - Billie Jo "B.J." Buzbee, 52, of 10719 W. CR 600S, Mentone, died at 9 a.m. Jan. 24, 2010, in her residence.
She was born Nov. 24, 1957, in Troy, N.C., to Gary and Laura Harris MacDonald. On Aug. 10, 1985, in Logansport, she married David W. Buzbee, who survives.
She was a 1976 graduate of Triton High School, Bourbon; earned an associate's degree from Michigan Christian College in 1977; and graduated from South Bend Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1984. She had worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in Plymouth, Peru and Logansport. She had also been a teacher at Village Christian School, Pleasant Plain, Ohio, and had been a foster parent at Midwestern Children's Home, Pleasant Plain. She was a member of Rochester Church of Christ; had been a Cub Scout leader for many years; and in 2005 completed her bachelor's degree from Southern Christian University. Over the years she was active in church youth programs and had been on many medical mission trips to Haiti.
Also surviving are four children: Jonathan (and spouse Angela) Buzbee, Houlton, Maine; Naomi and Mary Buzbee and Shelton Carpenter, all of Mentone; her parents, Gary and Laura MacDonald, Houlton; and two sisters, Lisa (and spouse Ken) Hooley, Tippecanoe, and Laurie (and spouse Ray) Hedington, Plymouth. She was preceded in death by a brother and her grandparents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rochester Church of Christ with the Rev. Jim Dillinger officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
