HAGERSTOWN – Bill Warfel, 93, Hagerstown, died Nov. 3, 2013, at his residence. He was born June 2, 1920, to Ray and Mary Taylor Warfel. On Nov. 22, 1941, he married Ardene Stanley, who preceded him in death March 29, 1975. He was a 1938 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his return to Wayne County, he was a farmer on Jacksonburg Road for 66 years. He was a 67-year member of American Legion Post 333, and a member of AMVETS Post 38. Surviving are a son, Bill (and spouse Susan) Warfel; a daughter, Barbara (and spouse Rex) Reed; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Jordan. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Private services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in West Lawn Cemetery.
