Recently, because of a tremendous tragedy involving use of guns, some people want to get more laws by our federal government. Laws do not prevent such tragedies. And to get the federal government involved just creates another huge inefficient bureaucracy. The farther away we go to try to solve a problem, it is very costly and ineffective. And Washington, D.C., is about as far away as we can get.
My experience with Medicare claims has proven that the federal government bureaucrat procedures are not efficient, which is wasting our tax dollars, and also put an extra burden on the medical profession for filing claims. Also, I have seen, following the New Orleans disaster where millions of dollars were spent with no help to the victims, hundred of trailers in a park not being used because there was no electricity, water or sewage being provided, as an example.
In my attempts to get Medicare to change some things that were truly wrong, I got no real help from the members of Congress I contacted, and the final word from the bureaucrats was, this is the way it is, buster. The government is supposed to be for us, the people, but the person on the government payroll tells us what is what and not what we tell them, who are supposed to be our employees.
The federal government bureaucracy is so huge that neither the president or Congress have any real control over them. We need to work to get things done at a local level and away from the federal government so we can get our money's worth. The handling cost to send money to Washington to get some benefit locally is way too much.
