Five bids were opened for a bridge project on Old 15 south of Milford this morning.
The bids were opened after the county commissioners' second-to-last meeting of 2010.
Of the five bids, the lowest came from Pioneer Associates out of Leo at $262,151.06.
The second lowest bid came in at $263,412.21 from Primeco in Fort Wayne.
The engineer's estimate of the project was $299,453.50.
The bridge that will be worked on is just south of Milford on Old 15 and runs over Turkey Creek.
The contract will be awarded in two weeks.
Two county Board of Health members were renewed for four-year terms.
County Health Department Administrator Bob Weaver requested to the commissioners that Drs. Tom Howard and Dennis Woodward be given another term as their current terms expire at the end of this year.
Ed Rock, emergency management director, said the county received a $3,750 grant that can only be used to help the county's emergency preparedness. The money could not be put in the county's general fund.
Rock requested, and was given permission, to use the money to purchase small generators for the county.
The grant required no local money to be used.
Contracts were agreed to with county attorney Mike Miner, and interlocal agreements were approved with the Kosciusko County Solid Waste District as well as the county's convention and visitor's bureau.
A swearing-in ceremony for elected officials will be Dec. 28 in the old courtroom in the courthouse at 1 p.m.
Along with incumbents being sworn in, new prosecuting attorney Dan Hampton and county councilmen James Moyer and Doug Heinisch will also be sworn in.
The commissioners approved the reduction of the speed limit in The Dells subdivision from 30 to 25 mph.
The county commissioners are Bob Conley, Brad Jackson and Ron Truex.
Conley was absent from this morning's meeting.
Jackson told the audience that Conley was undergoing a "pretty serious surgery".
