Warsaw Police Department officers responded to a 911 call at the intersection of Argonne Road and Market Street Monday at approximately 3:45 p.m. of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. Officers and arriving rescue personnel located a 2009 Lincoln Navigator at the intersection as well as an injured female on the ground.
Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team investigators advised the driver of the Lincoln Navigator, Ana Louisa Malagon, 24, Warsaw, was traveling eastbound on Market Street and had stopped at the intersection of Argonne Road. Malagon began to turn left onto Argonne Road when she did not see Sturgill crossing through the intersection westbound.
Investigating officers determined through Indiana BMV record files that Malagon’s driver’s license was currently suspended. She was subsequently arrested and preliminarily charged with felony driving while suspended and causing serious bodily injury. The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office set her bond at $2,000 but she has since bonded out of the Kosciusko County Jail.
Kosciusko County FACT stated the crash is still under investigation at this time pending state mandatory blood testing. The FACT was assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, Multi-Township EMS, Warsaw Police and Fire Departments and the Indiana State Police.
