Bicyclist, Daughter

NAPPANEE - A Nappanee woman and her infant daughter were injured Tuesday morning when the bicycle they were on was struck by a car.

The accident occurred at 8:40 a.m. on CR 950W, one-quarter mile south of the Kosciusko/Elkhart county line, near Nappanee.

Jolene Hochstetler, 33, of West CR 1350N, suffered multiple fractures on her left side and was admitted to Elkhart General Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition.

Lynae Hochstetler, 7 months, suffered bruises to her left side and also is in fair condition at EGH.

According to an Indiana State Police report, a car driven by Eli Bontrager, 60, of West CR 1350N, Nappanee, was northbound on CR 950W when it struck the bicycle from behind.

Bontrager told police he didn't notice the bicycle in front of him when the accident occurred. Bontrager was not injured.
