MENTONE – Beverly J. McClone, 80, of 3025 S. CR 600W, Mentone, passed after a brave battle with kidney cancer at 6:44 a.m. July 2, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born July 26, 1930, in Mishawaka, to E. Frank and Dollie Kollar Badman. In 1948, she married Bernard L. “Bing” Clark, who died in 1967. On Dec. 25, 1970, she then married Jacob D. McClone, who survives in Mentone.
She worked for the Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles, was a candidate for Kosciusko County clerk and was a bookkeeper for several local Warsaw and Mentone firms including Frank Manufacturing, DePuy and Kiaser Chemical, Etna Green. She was co-owner of a large duck farm for a number of years and also of Lake Trail Café, Mentone. She graduated from Rily High School, South Bend. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also the Moose Lodge and Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rochester. She loved her family and her home on Tremble Creek, Mentone, where she spent much of her life. She offered everyone a warm welcome, delicious food, lovely birthday cakes and beautiful gardens. She will be greatly missed by all including her beloved dog, Spike.
Also surviving are a daughter, Patti Lea Clark Dillinger, Elkhart; four stepdaughters: Diane (and spouse Dave) O’Brien, Mentone; Pati (and spouse John) Vrbenski, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Tina Marshall, Warsaw; and Mary Lou McClone, Denver, Colo.; four stepsons: Danny Ray McClone and Jimmy (and spouse Cathy) McClone, all of Palestine; Chris (and spouse Tammy) McClone, Pierceton; and Marvin McClone, Burket; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Badman Harringer, South Bend, and Sherrilynne Badman Fuller, Kingston, Wash. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Stephen McClone; a brother, Eddie J. Badman, who died in 2000; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Amber Karkosky-Litten officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.
