Beverly Beatrice Welty Higginbotham, 83, Lake Placid, Fla., died at 4 p.m. July 7, 2017, in Vitas Hospice, Sebring, Fla., of lung disease.
She was born June 26, 1934, in Traverse City, Mich., to Beatrice Russell and Edward C. Chamberlain. She was married to Jerry Higginbotham, who survives.
She had lived in Bourbon, Warsaw and Lake Placid. She was a registered nurse and a school nurse at Triton School Corp.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Josephine, Sebring; the Lions Club; and the Shriners.
She liked sewing, the beach, friends and family, playing cards and darts, coloring, cooking and community events.
Survivors include her children: Julia Ann Welty Watkins, Kimberly Welty Patton, Laura Lynn Welty Baker and Angela Jo Welty Flenar; stepchildren: Julie D’Argo, Pamela Kincaid, Angela McCally and Scott Higginbotham; nine grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Merry Ann Youker and Barbara Jean Pound.
A memorial service will be from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Church of Christ, Etna Green, with Jordan Ickes officiating. A celebration service will follow.
