Betty Ruth Price, 81, of Warsaw, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on Aug. 9, 2025.
Born and raised in Pigeon Roost Hollar, Paintsville, Ky., Betty was the oldest girl in a family of five siblings. From a young age, she learned the joy of caring for others, helping with cooking and tending to household chores. Those early lessons shaped the woman she became: a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
In 1965, Betty married her lifelong helpmate, Taylor “Jack” Price, and together they moved to Indiana to begin their life together. Their love story was filled with hard work, laughter, faith and deep devotion to family. They were blessed with two children, Greg (Pam) Price of Leland, N.C.; and Michelle (Jeff) Krueger, of Milford; and together created a home where love was abundant and faith was strong.
Betty was a master of old-fashioned Southern cooking, and her kitchen was always a place of warmth and welcome. She had a gift for serving others, often making sure everyone else had a full plate before she ever sat down to eat, asking, “What can I get you?” Her family especially cherished the way she wove love into every meal.
Her faith in the Lord was her guiding light, and she and Jack passed that faith down to their children and grandchildren. She loved her family fiercely, and nothing brought her greater joy than cheering on her grandchildren at ballgames, school plays and every milestone in between.
Betty found peace and happiness outdoors — gardening, tending flowers and soaking up the sunshine. If the sun was shining, she and Jack were likely outside, working side-by-side, a testament to the Southern work ethic they both carried proudly.
Christmas was Betty’s favorite time of year. She decorated her home from top to bottom, filled it with music (especially Elvis’s Christmas album) and delighted in giving gifts that brought joy to those she loved.
In her later years, her greatest joy was simply sitting in her favorite chair, watching her five great-grandchildren play, and reflecting on the blessing of her family. She often said her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life’s greatest gifts.
Betty’s legacy is one of unwavering love, selfless service, deep faith and the joy of family. She touched countless lives with her kindness and will be missed beyond measure.
She is survived by her children, Greg (Pam) Price, of Leland, N.C.; and Michelle (Jeff) Krueger, of Milford; her grandchildren: Collin Price, Wilmington N.C.; Kaitlin (Paul) Steele, Warsaw; Paige Price, Wilmington N.C.; Evan Krueger, Carmel; her great-grandchildren: Sylus Steele, Charlotte Steele, Greyson Steele, Oliver Steele and Liam Steele; and her siblings: Phil (Glenna) Sammons, Danville, Ky.; Ron (Sally) Ward, Staffordsville, Ky.; and Wanda (Cornell) Short, Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Taylor “Jack” Price.
