SYRACUSE – Betty Monroe, 87, Syracuse, passed away June 11, 2014, at the Kingston Care Center, Fort Wayne. She was born March 18, 1927, in Fort Wayne, to Wilbur and Florence Scherer Sharrick. On Nov. 24, 1948, she married William Monroe, who preceded her in death in 1996. She was a homemaker as well as a church secretary. She was a Syracuse resident for 36 years and a longtime member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Cromwell. Surviving are two sons, Tom (and spouse Glennie) Monroe, Fort Wayne, and Dennis (and Pat Weller) Monroe, Edina, Minn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church, Cromwell, with pastors Forrest Van Gundy and Elsie Fregeau officiating.
