COLUMBIA CITY – Betty L. Zimmerman, 77, Columbia City, died at 5:05 a.m. July 9, 2015, at her home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1937, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Richard and Aggie Poe Gibson. On July 5, 1957, she married Gerald P. “Pete” Zimmerman, who survives. They were married for 58 years.
At the age of 14, her family moved to Kosciusko County. She graduated from Claypool High School.
She and her husband made their home in Elkhart for nine months before moving to Fort Wayne. In 1977, they moved to Loon Lake and later Crooked Lake. In March 2013, they moved to their present home in Columbia City.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Magnavox, Jo-Mac Glove in Warsaw and Miller’s Merry Manor. She was a member of the Women’s Thursday Bowling League at Main Bowl.
Also surviving are: three children, Samuel David (and spouse Dawn) Zimmerman, Carmel; Jacqueline Ann (and spouse James) White and Laura Lynne (and spouse Greg) Bianski, all of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rebecca Krotke and Dottie Teeter, both of North Manchester, and Joyce Arnett, Pierceton; and a brother, Charles Gibson, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by twin infant sons, Peter and  Paul; four brothers, Richard, Sam, James and Arnold Gibson; and a sister, Jane Parsley.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
