Betty L. Sturgill Walker, of Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, passed away at Grace Village Health Care at 8:52 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at the age of 87.
She was born April 25, 1931, in Knoxville, Tenn., to B. Iradel Hutchison and Lizzie Belle Albright Hutchison.
In 1949 she was married to Charles Ray Sturgill; he passed away in 1999. In June 2002 Betty remarried to Pastor Richard Dale Walker; he passed away on March 31, 2006.
Betty moved to the area in 1998 and was a proud pastor’s wife and served the Lord alongside her husband doing missionary work in Peru, South America, France and Guatemala. She was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church and will be dearly missed by her church family. Most of all, she will be lovingly remembered by her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lee Ann Taylor, Warsaw, and Lenise (Jonathan) Walter, Warsaw; two sons, Larry Sturgill, Ohio, and Lance Sturgill, Ohio; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers; one sister; and her son-in-law, Donald Taylor.
A musical celebration in Betty’s honor will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, and held in the Grace Village Chapel.
Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
