Betty L. Jackson Witman, 96, formerly of Milford, passed away on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, at The Waters of Wakarusa.
Betty was born on Sept. 30, 1929, in Pierceton, to P.D. and Carrie Schaaf McFarren.
Her family moved to Milford in 1938. She was a 1947 graduate of Milford High School. On May 9, 1948, she married Worth Jackson. He passed away on April 25, 1973. Betty later married James Witman, who passed away in 1987.
Betty loved her family and loved to travel, go camping and play Euchre. She was known to be an excellent cook. She wintered in Bonita Springs, Fla., for 48 years. Betty was an ideal farm wife as she raised a big garden, helped bale hay, drive a tractor or do whatever was needed.
She was a member of Bethany Community Church in New Paris, 76-year member of Turkey Creek Home Builder’s Club and former member of the Milford American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty is survived by her children: Sherrie (Steve) Plummer, of Mentone; Stuart (Donna) Jackson, Maureen Kuhns; daughter-in-law, Nell Jackson, all of Milford; seven grandchildren: Brandon Reed, Roger Reed, Eric Jackson, Rachel Welte, Mark Jackson, Diane Flora and Kyle Jackson; along with 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Gregory Worth Jackson, on April 10, 2018; and brothers, Seth, Paul and Doral McFarren.
A visitation in Betty’s honor will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at Mishler Funeral Home, 461 W. CR 900N, Milford. Services will begin in the chapel at noon with Pastor Jonathan Sommers officiating. Burial will take place at Milford Cemetery, 13029 N. CR 60W, Milford.
