Betty Jane Shroyer, 77, of Jay, Fla., went to grace peacefully resting at home Dec. 30, 2011.
She was born Nov. 8, 1934, in Allen County, to Eugene “Gene” and Cecil Holsworth Thorne. She married Daniel Shroyer.
In her youth she was an active member of 4-H, Zion Church and Jackson Township High School. She enjoyed a variety of interests, especially senior affairs and church activities, but delighted in raising her daughter and three sons. She was a respiratory therapist and retired in 1991.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Daniel Shroyer; a brother, Jim (and spouse Linda) Thorne; two sisters, Nita (and spouse Dave) Endsley, and Mary (and spouse Bill) Albright; a daughter, Elizabeth (and spouse Dean) Dellinger; three sons: Lewis Thorne, David (and spouse Julie) Thorne, and John (and spouse Lori) Thorne; six grandchildren: Amy, Daniel, Robert, John Shaw, Katie Ann and Allison Shaw. She was preceeded in death by her parents; a sister, Juva Sterling; and two grandchildren, Carol and Jenifer Shroyer.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. July 14 at Zion Methodist Church, 6276 Old Fort Wayne Road, Huntington. All friends and family are warmly welcomed.
