BOURBON – Betty I. Sparks, 88, Etna Green, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Oct. 9, 2014, in Mason Health Care Center, Warsaw. She was born Sept. 10, 1926, at Huffman Lake, Kosciusko County, to Isaac and Madeline Barth Long. On April 17, 1943, she married Loyal Sparks, who died March 27, 2005. She had been a lifelong resident of Kosciusko. She was a very faithful member of the Etna Green Church of Christ. She was baptized Aug. 15, 1937. She was very involved in the life of her church, and was the person who always helped arrange dinners for funeral and other functions. She was a member of the Anchor Sunday School Class, Dorcas Missionary Society, a charter member of the ONO Club since 1949 and the local euchre card club in Etna Green. She could be found at Kosciusko Community Hospital as a volunteer, where she had dedicated her since 1976. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (and spouse Dick) Hollar, and Susan (and spouse Larry) Gochenour, all of Etna Green; her son, Rex (and spouse Karen) Sparks, Murphysboro, Tenn.; six grandchildren: Tana (and spouse William Jr.) Elliott and their children, Derick and Zak, all of Etna Green: Kelly (and spouse Kirk) Gochenour and their children, Sydney and Wyatt, all of Bourbon: Troy (and spouse Theresa) Hollar and their children, Savanna, Gracie, Ava, Jack and Walter, all of Waynetown; Alex and Sarah Sparks, both of Murphysboro; and Amber Jo Hollar, Etna Green. She was further blessed with her brother, Bill (and spouse Beverly) Long, Huffman Lake, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Long. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Etna Green Church of Christ, 206 W. Broadway St., Etna Green, with Pastor Jordan Ickes officiating. Burial is in Etna Green Cemetery.
