Betty Ellen Miner, 97, a lifetime Kosciusko County resident, passed away quietly just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.

Betty was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Kosciusko County, to Charles Walter and Ruth Iola Steffe Martin. She was a 1938 graduate of Atwood High School and was married to Harold R. “Bud” Miner on Aug. 18, 1941, in the Atwood parsonage. Together the pair would share 45 years before Bud’s passing. The pair was blessed with two sons: Ray and Don Miner.

Betty worked at Jo Mac Glove for a time before dedicating herself to her family full-time. She attended Stony Point Church for many years and was a longtime member of Atwood Otterbein United Methodist Church. She previously served on the church board and was active in the United Methodist Women. She also volunteered for many years with the Red Cross bloodmobile and was a member of Club 55, which was part of the Purdue Home Extension.

Betty loved time spent with family and enjoyed sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed vacationing with her sons and their families.

A short list of those who survive Betty with memories to cherish includes her son, Ray Miner; grandchildren, Jeff (wife Sherry) Miner and Matt (wife LeeAnn) Miner; and three great-grandchildren: Craig Miner, Danielle Miner and Elizabeth Miner, all of Warsaw. She is also survived by a sister, Catherine “Kate” McGowen, Warsaw; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Miner, Goshen; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Bud” Miner; son, Don Miner; sister, Joan (husband Lester) Taylor; brother, Robert (wife Patricia) Martin; daughter-in-law, Gayle Miner; and brother-in-law, Donald McGowen.

The family will receive friends at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, for a time of visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29,  and again for one hour prior to the following morning’s funeral service.

The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Titus Funeral Home. Pastors Jim Lawson of Otterbein UMC and Mike Beezley of Aldersgate UMC will officiate the service  and graveside committal that follows in Oakwood Cemetery.
