Betty Chumbler

Betty Chumbler, 87, of Winona Lake, died at 5:38 p.m. Aug. 31, 2013, at Grace Village, Winona Lake.
She was born Dec. 18, 1925, in South Wales, to Thomas and Catherine Thomas Childs. On Feb. 14, 1945, in South Wales she married  Willard Chumbler, who survives.
She was born and educated in South Wales. After she was married, she returned with her husband to Northwest Indiana in 1946. She spent her married life in Gary, Merrillville and Valparaiso. She worked for Sears in the clerical department for 25 years, retiring in 1985 from the Merrillville location. She had been a member of the Central Baptist Church in Hobart since 1947, where she was involved in the nursery, Sunday School and in the church office. She had been a resident of Kosciusko County for the past two months.
Also surviving are a son, David Chumbler, Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Rosemary Courtney, Warsaw; three grandchildren: one great-grandson; and her sister, Eileen Edwards, South Wales. She was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. CST Wednesday at Central Baptist Church, Hobart, with Pastor David Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Private family calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and from 10 to 11 a.m. CST at the church.
