Betty Carrie, 90, died at 5:48 p.m. May 12, 2013, in her residence. She was born April 3, 1923, in Anderson, to Myron Bousman and Florence Ruth Johnson Reynolds. She graduated from Tudor Hall School, Indianapolis, in 1940. She moved to Wawasee in 2000 then to Pierceton. She owned Hammok Country Store for 13 years; administrative assistant for Rix Pool and Patio Center (daughter and son-in-law’s business), East Hanover, N.J., for 19-1/2 years. She was a member of Daughter’s of American Revolution for 68 years; Society of Decorative Painters; Florham Park (N.J.) Historial Society; Monclair Historical Society, New Jersey); and Docent at Crane House, Monclair. She was formally educated in fine and decorative arts; created custom and traditional fine and decorative arts for interior decorators and private clients; taught fine and decorative arts and crafts in her circa 1721 house in New Jersey as well as through the Madison-Chathan (N.J.) adult education program; demonstrated rug hooking wearing 1836 time period clothing for Back to the Days of Kosciusko County; Kosciusko County 4-H Fair, Heirloom Festival, Pierceton, and Stone’s Trace, Cromwell. She was featured in the 1975 series titled “The Encyclopedia of Crafts.” Surviving are two daughters, Cissy Reynolds (and spouse Charles William) Kramer, Pierceton, and Emily J. Reynolds (and spouse Barry S.) Goodman, Tewksbury Township, N.J.; a brother, Bill (and spouse Holly) Reynolds, Woodstock, Ga.; two nephews; three nieces; three cousins, Barbara (and spouse Floyd) Dorsey and Wayne (and spouse Sharon) Christenberry, all of Warsaw, and Alan (and spouse Jennifer) Christenberry, Winona Lake. She was preceded in death by a brother, Miron Charles Reynolds, who died in 1945. Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor William F. Mathys of First United Methodist Church, Anderson. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
