MENTONE – Bernice Rule, 93, of Wabash, Ind., and formerly of Mentone, passed at 10:48 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Bickford Assisted Living of Wabash.
She was born on March 5, 1926, in Jasper, Ind., to the late John and Elizabeth (Dick) Klingel. She was married on June 25, 1949, in Warsaw, Ind., to Floyd W. Rule Jr., who preceded on Aug. 20, 2014.
Bernice was a homemaker. She had attended the Indiana School for the Deaf of Indianapolis. She was involved with the Deaf Senior Citizens Club of Mishawaka. Bernice and her husband enjoyed going out to eat at many area restaurants. She had been a longtime member of the Mentone United Methodist Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Cindy Goodnight, of LaFontaine; Sylvia Haney, of Friendsville, Tenn.; Dorothy Tyler, of Jasper,?Ind.; Sr. Mary Beth Klingel, of St. Mary of the Woods, Ind.; John Klingel, of Lakeworth, Fla.; June Schnaus, of Jasper, Ind.; Karen Schultz, of Jasper, Ind.; Tom Klingel, of North Potomac, Md.; Jan Neukam, of?Louisville, Ky.; and Robert Klingel, of Jasper, Ind.
She also is survived by her close friend and interpreter, Pat Lancet, of Argos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; one sister; and five brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at King Memorial home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Jason Rice officiating and Pat Lancet signing for the hearing impaired. Burial will take place in the Stony Point Cemetery, Etna Green. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the funeral home.
