Bernard Austin Price Jr., 75, of 2254 Whitetail Run, Warsaw, died at 11:50 a.m. Jan. 22, 2012, in Warsaw Meadows Care Center, from complications due to Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was born March 16, 1936, in Beaumont, W.Va., to Bernard Austin Sr. and Nina Louise Corns Price. On Sept. 3, 1955, he married Glendel Leigh Melton, who survives.
He was a retired U.S. Army CW04, serving in Vietnam. While on active duty, he was posted to Italy, Germany and locations in the U.S. He earned a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and corrections from the University of Nebraska and later earned his teaching certificate. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he served as a deputy sheriff, U.S. customs inspector and law enforcement instructor in El Paso County, Texas. After moving to Florida and serving as a protective investigator for the state department of health, he retired.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lorie (and spouse James) Brown, Maryland, and Stacey (and spouse William) Miller, Warsaw; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Calling is from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday in the courtyard of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church with military honors by members of the American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, both in Warsaw.
