Ben Weaver, 83, of Warsaw, passed away at 12:35 a.m. July 16, 2012, in his residence.
He was born Nov. 13, 1928, in Galveston, Ind., to Joseph and Florence Luse Weaver. On Sept. 26, 1953, in Logansport, he married Rebecca McMurry, who survives.
A long-time resident of Warsaw, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Starting in 1953, he worked at Standard Oil Co. Then in 1975, he started Weaver and Sons Oil Inc. He was a member of American Legion Post 49, Warsaw, and the Leesburg Lions Club.
Also surviving are a son, Jay (and spouse Cindy) Weaver, Leesburg; two daughters, Lisa (and spouse John) Spears, Chicago, Ill., and LoriAnne Weaver, Lake Zurich, Ill.; a brother, Mike (and spouse Patricia) Weaver, Galveston; a sister, Carolyn Eshelman, Galveston; a sister-in-law, Betty Weaver, Galveston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, F.A. “Jim” Weaver; and a son, Jan Weaver.
Christian burial services will be a 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Father Phil DeVolder officiating. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery with military honors by members of American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, both in Warsaw.
