Bell library's capital projects fund approved

After moving into the new building, the Bell Memorial Public Library tripled in size the past year.

But their budget this year is $42,000 less than last year. The library's capital projects fund, library director Lorna Klein told the Kosciusko County Council Thursday, saved the library this year.

The county council held a special meeting Thursday to review the library's capital projects fund, which they unanimously approved.

The capital projects fund hearing is when the library declares what they think they will be doing for the next three years, 2005-07. Because the library serves not only the town of Mentone, but also Harrison Township, the county council has to approve the CPF.

Capital projects, according to the state, may request no more than $0.0133 per $100 of assessed valuation. With an assessed valuation of $129,988,850 as of March 15, the Bell Memorial Public Library CPF tax would raise approximately $17,289 annually.

The Milford and Warsaw libraries will present their capital projects funds at the county council's regular meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. in the county courthouse, Warsaw.

Members of the county council are chairman Harold Jones, vice chairman Tom Anglin, Larry Teghtmeyer, John Kinsey, Charlene Knispel, Maurice Beer and Brad Tandy.

The library board members are president Cal Jackson, vice president Roger Moriarty, treasurer Jill Gross, secretary Marjorie Sanders, Dick Webb, Honey Kuhn and Brandon Spitler.
