MENTONE – Lawrence D. Bell Aircraft Museum Inc. is hosting a helicopter fly-in Sept. 24 at the museum. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 210 S. Oak St., Mentone, weather permitting. The public is invited to have a close look at many different kinds of helicopters on the site. One highlight will be a fly-in of a Bell Huey. Helicopter rides will be available for $40 per lift with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the museum. Bell Aircraft Museum will be open for tours. Donations for the museum tours and outside activities are welcome.Pulled pork and hot dog sandwiches, as well as other food items, will be for sale. The purpose of this attraction is to raise awareness of the Bell Aircraft Museum, increase membership and funding and promote preservation of aviation history. Local personnel and community organizations will aid in the day’s activities. Goshen Helicopter Inc., Goshen Air Center Inc., Air Force Association 411, Sweetwater Sound Inc. and Mentone Chamber of Commerce are sponsors of the event.
