Bedke, Lady Squires Take TRC Cross Country TitlesAKRON – Manchester senior Rae Bedke handily won the Three Rivers Conference cross country girls title, leading the Lady Squires to a one-point win over Maconaquah for the team title at Tippecanoe Valley High School Saturday. Whitko was seventh and Valley ninth in the team standings. In the boys race, Rochester junior Thomas Rohr won and led the Zebras to the team title. Manchester was fourth, Valley eighth and Whitko didn’t have enough runners to compile a team score. Bedke was 24 seconds faster than her closest competitor, Rochester junior Kelsey Taylor. Manchester had top-20 finishes by Jaelyn Webb (sixth), Tahnee Fuentes (10th), and Clara Burdette (18th), with Katie Baker finishing 25th. That was enough to overcome Maconaquah’s four runners in the top 11. Whitko freshman Sarah Walters was 21st, with senior Haley Yohe taking 24th. Amanda Leppek was 36th, Elizabeth Foutz took 45th and Manon Sonneville was 49th. For Valley, Claudia Ramos was 40th, Valeria Jimenez 42nd, Alyssa Bell 50th, Abbi Miller 54th, Lauren Sponseller 55th and Tori Miller 58th. On the boys side, Manchester’s lone senior, Drew Jones, took eighth in 17:57. Ethan Davis was 16th, Hunter Miller 18th, and Montgomery Pattison 24th. Ben Reichenbach took 29th, Reece Adamiec was 34th and Wilson Nettleton 49th. Valley’s Justin Peconga was 32nd, Jared Mikel 39th, with Mitchell Smith and Colt Demske taking 42nd and 43rd, respectively. Evan Lowman was 50th. Whitko’s Logan Busz cracked the top 20 at 18th. Zach Freel finished 40th overall and Ezra Miller 47th. Next up is sectional competition on Saturday, with Manchester and Tippecanoe Valley competing at Culver Academies, and Whitko will run at the Fort Wayne Northrop Sectional. The girls races will begin at 10:15 a.m. with the boys races to follow.
