Be Thankful

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

We have much to be thankful for in Kosciusko County:

Most of us have a place to call home to be protected from the elements;

Most of us have heat in our homes and our utility bill is not in arrears;

Most of us can go to our sink and get clean water to drink;

Most of us had food today and didn't worry about where our next meal is coming from;

Most of us went to work this week and receive a regular paycheck;

Most of us have a loving spouse who has been faithful;

Most of us were raised in a safe and nurturing environment;

Most of us have not lost a loved one to crime or war;

Most of us have experienced good health;

Most of us can read, write and do basic math;

Most of us own one or more Bibles in our home and worship God freely;

There are many struggles across the world and people who are: homeless, cold, thirsty, hungry, unemployed, divorced, abused, widowed, lonely, sick, illiterate and persecuted.

The good news is that God understands the pain of these and other hurts. If you are experiencing any one of these be assured that He loves you more than you can imagine.

Even in the midst of pain and suffering there are still things to be grateful for:

You are alive - be thankful.

You live in a land of liberty - be thankful.

You have the ability to be forgiven and change - be thankful.

You can have a hope in today and the future through God's Son- Jesus Christ! Through His love we can live a life of gratitude and address the hurts of others which is the real spirit of Thanksgiving.

Be Thankful!
