Be Careful Not to Vote Against Your Own Interests

Editor, Times-Union:
I also was in attendance on Sunday at the RTW open meeting in Warsaw. I have to say first that I support and believe in unions and my beloved Democratic Party, anyone that knows me will confirm this. But I have to admit that I was dazed and confused by what some union members were saying.

I’m not talking about the handouts that was given out on Sunday, I was OK with that. I also do not think for a moment that RTW in any way, shape or form will be good for the working class of Indiana. I am talking about some union members who were there and do not ever vote, or the union members that admitted out loud that they were Republicans.

I understand that if you are a union worker and a Democrat, you have a right to be upset because you did not want this in the first place. But I don’t understand if you are a union worker and Republican, then why are you upset? This is what your party does and you are part of the problem. You cannot embrace entitlements that are given to you because of your union contract, and then be mad when the Republicans want to cut entitlements.

It’s time that we organize one more time to get our members and their families ready for the next election. It’s past time that we send Becky Kubacki and Dave Wolkins packing. I just wonder what clever little names she will be calling Mr. Hooker next time.

We know what you think of unions, Becky. We also know that you think we are overpaid and our members would never make it at your country club, we understand. But ... we want you to understand something as well, we will not forget, Becky, we will never forget. We plan to show you on election day.
