A Warsaw man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly battering a juvenile severely enough to require hospital care in March.
Moses Lee McNees, 54, of 310 S. Columbia St., Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 2 p.m. Tuesday for battery with bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor. His preliminary bond was set at $600.
According to a Warsaw Police Department report, Cpl. Phillip Hawks responded to a report of an intoxicated man – later identified as McNees – who had just battered a minor. A woman at the scene said McNees left the residence in a white GMC Sonoma with an unknown destination.
Hawks talked to the victim who said he had come out to the living room to speak with the woman and McNees was there and extremely intoxicated. McNees grabbed the minor by the right arm and twisted it hard, putting him in a “chicken wing hold.” The youth said McNees would not let go and he was in extreme pain so he began hitting McNees until he let go of his arm. McNees then left the residence.
Another woman gave police a similar account of what happened.
EMS and first responders arrived on the scene and gave the youth medical attention. His mother then signed off on treatment for him and later took him to Parkview Hospital for further treatment.
An “attempt to locate” was put out for McNees and the vehicle he was driving. WPD searched several locations, but were un able to find him that night.
A spokeswoman with Parkview Hospital told Hawks that the youth suffered a right shoulder sprain.
