James and Margaret Bates, Bourbon, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. James Bates and the former Margaret Hall were married April 8, 1956, at Bourbon First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ross Richey. Both are now enjoying retirement. The couple have four children, Jim Bates Jr., Jo Ann Bates, Judith (and spouse Marc) Weissert and Jon (and spouse Kim) Bates; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
