I write out of concern for the Warsaw Community High School basketball team.
As I think about the dedication that each player contributes to the team, I wonder why Coach Ogle is unable to appreciate every player that steps foot on that floor. It seems as though talent is never ending on this team; but rather than recognizing this abundance of talent, Ogle concentrates on one player, as though he is the only one that has anything to offer. Well, I don't see any "I" in the word team, do you?
Without the rest of the players, WCHS basketball wouldn't get very far. Ogle treats all, well almost all, of the players like they have no ability or knowledge when it comes to the game of basketball.
Ogle was quoted in the paper as saying, "We're ahead of where I thought we'd be." Wow! I don't know about you, but to me it sounds like he didn't have much faith in our WCHS basketball team in the first place.
Did you ever stop and think what kind of team WCHS would have if Ogle focused more on guiding his players instead of holding them down? I certainly have, and I have no doubt that's the reason WCHS has lost many talented players, such as the Plumlees, who weren't good enough for Ogle but are good enough to play Division 1 basketball.
He started out the year by saying the team would be better if there were seniors. Well, there's a reason there are no seniors who want to play for WCHS, and I think Ogle knows why.
