Barn Is A Total Loss After FirePIERCETON - With the temperature around 90 degrees Friday afternoon, several fire departments responded to a barn fire at 322 N. CR 900E, Pierceton.
They had the fire under control within about an hour. The call came into Central Dispatch shortly after 4 p.m. and fire trucks began to leave around 5:15 p.m.
County records indicate the property is owned by Joseph H. and Patricia A. Stump.
Pierceton firefighter Chuck See said the fire was limited to the one barn and they had no idea as to what started the fire. There were two barns on the property.
See said they also didn’t immediately know what was in the barn, but it was a total loss and there were no injuries reported. It was not a big barn.
Along with tankers and engines from the Pierceton Fire Department, Sidney Fire supplied water; Winona Lake Fire Rescue, Richland Township Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department Chief Jeremy Likens said his department provided a tanker, ambulance and engine.
