Barkes 90thDorine Barkes of Warsaw is celebrating her 90th birthday on Oct. 12.
She has been maried to Dr. Bob Barkes for 68 years and together, they raised four children: Larry (Diana) Barkes, Goshen; Tom (JoAnn) Barkes, Granger; Barbara (Ed) Addleman, Dallas, Texas; Richard (Mara) Barkes, Fort Wayne. They now have 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild.
Barkes graduated from Tipton Indiana High School in 1941 and from IU School of Nursing in 1951. For several years, she worked for Gerig Surgical Associates in Mishawaka, now located in Goshen, retiring in 1991.
Barkes will celebrate with a family dinner, following with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at Warsaw Trinity United Methodist Church, 832 E. Center St., Warsaw, given by her children and husband. Please no gifts, just your presence.
