The Barbee Neighborhood Watch Group met last week and hosted Sgt. Chad Hill of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, a KCSD detective and a drug task officer to speak on crime in Kosciusko County and the Barbee area. Speakers suggested that crime is down in the Barbee area, but up in the Lake Wawasee area. Speakers provided the group with flyers about how local law enforcement can provide everything needed to start a watch group and told the group citizens just need to pick the items up at the Sheriff’s Department. The speakers said they hope the Wawasee area will start some watch groups. The group also learned to call Crime Stoppers for anything reason – from stolen items to drug activities. If citizens suspect drugs activity, call the tip line or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP. In other news, Co-chairmen of the Barbee Watch Committee, Lil Smaluk, is now busy doing church activities but was presented with a "Certificate Of Appreciation" for all her efforts from the group during the meeting.
