Barbee Hotel Liquor License Renewed

Posted
The Barbee Hotel and Restaurant received a liquor license renewal Thursday from the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Board.
The renewal was postponed from the February meeting because the restaurant had received several violations stemming from a Nov. 25 visit from a state excise officer – allowing a minor to loiter, sale to a minor, failure to display liquor license and one related to a pull tab machine. The restaurant still had not received a fine amount at the time of Thursday’s meeting, however, which state Excise Officer April Tackett attributed to a backlog.
“They don’t have a fine yet but we can’t ask them to continue it for another six months and make them pay extension fees,” Tackett remarked. “There’s absolutely nothing they can do about the backlog.”
The board renewed the license on the stipulation the fine be paid once it’s received. Tackett also suggested the restaurant seek to have the license display charge taken off because the two-story restaurant does have a license displayed at one of its two bars areas.
The board also renewed the liquor license for the Warsaw Walmart Thursday. A new license was issued last month to the Westmain in Syracuse, a new establishment at 201 W. Main St. owned by Jason and Emily Traycoff.
