PIERCETON – Barbara Shepherd, 75, Leesburg, died at 10 p.m. Dec. 12, 2015, in her residence. She was born April 20, 1940, in Columbia City, to Charles and Helen Gebert Wolfe. On Dec. 26, 1965, she married Russell Hursey, who died Aug. 31, 1994. On May 15, 1999, she married William E. Shepherd, who died Feb. 18, 2013. She has been a resident of Kosciusko County since 1966. She was a former co-owner of The Farmers Exchange, Larwill, from 1965 until 1973. She formerly was employed by Union Products, Cromwell. She was a member of the Menzie-Reese Post of the American Legion Auxiliary, Pierceton. Surviving are two daughters, Deb Baker, Silver Lake, and Tona Walter (and companion Doug O’Brien), South Whitley; a son, Scott Clem, Fort White, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Sandra Helblig, Leesburg, and Jane (and spouse Carl) Hughes, Silver Lake; a stepson, Charles Shepherd, Pierceton; a sister, Mary Lou Loe, Columbia City; a brother, Robert Wolfe, Park Falls, Wis.; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a great-granddaughter. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor Carl Hughes officiating. Burial will follow the service at Washington-Union Cemetery, Pierceton.
