COLUMBIA CITY – Barbara Lou  Rider, 78, of Larwill, died at 11:15 a.m. April 30, 2011, in The Oaks, where she had been for the past two weeks in rehabilitation.
She was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Noble County, to George and Effa Owen Kimmel. On Jan. 15, 1955, she married Jack L. Rider, who died Jan. 2, 2000.
Her formative years were spent in Noble County. She graduated from Churubusco High School in 1951. She moved to Larwill in 1959. In addition to being a homemaker, she was self employed in the upholstery business from 1962-77. She was a member of the former Larwill United Methodist Church now Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons: Kim L. (and spouse Sarah) Rider, Columbia City; David (and spouse Brenda) Anweiler, Mentone; and Dennis (and spouse Jackie) Anweiler, Kouts; three daughters, Jackie L. (and spouse Steve) Adang, Pierceton, and Diane (and spouse Brent) Krider and Denise Greenway, all of Colorado; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lalia (and spouse Kenneth) Hand, Huntertown, and Margaret (and spouse Bob) Marshall, Kimmell. She was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Gene Roher officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Larwill.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
