Barbara L. Long, 76, died at 5:05 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008, in Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, Fla.
She was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Brook, to Earl and Marjorie Porter Long.
She lived with her parents in Riverlawn Addition, where she was a babysitter for most of the children in the neighborhood for many years. She loved each and every child and often spoke of happy memories of those years. She moved to Fort Myers to be near her sister who had moved to Fort Myers Beach in 1993. She was loved by everyone who met her and was always a cheerful and happy person in spite of her life-long struggle with cerebral palsy. She had many friends in the Warsaw area as well as new friends she made during her years in Florida.
Surviving are a sister, Elaine (and spouse Jack) Helvey, Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; three nieces, Debra L. Miller, Diane K. Jones and Penny S. Helvey, all of Warsaw; a great-nephew, Neil Harris, Warsaw; and a great-niece, Amy Harris, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with the Rev. Tom Ream officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
