SYRACUSE – Barbara J. Carwile, 85, of Topeka, and formerly of Syracuse, died Feb. 1, 2012, in Avalon Village, Ligonier.
She was born June 4, 1926, in Monmouth, Ill., to Gerald and Marie Myers Carwile.
Moving to the Syracuse area from River Grove, Ill., in 1943, she retired from Syracuse Rubber in 1990 and was a member of Richville United Methodist Church. She was a former director of the Mellowaires in Kosciusko County. She was a member and past president of the Syracuse Town Council.
She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Syracuse Cemetery with the Rev. Carol Knox officiating.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. ***** Memorials may be made to Syracuse EMS or Richville United Methodist Church.
