SYRACUSE – Barbara J. “Barb” Gamsby Porter, 67, Syracuse, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Feb. 23, 2015, at her residence. She was born Nov. 13, 1947, in Wabash, to Russell Sr. and Edna Harney Gamsby. In 1970, in Wabash, she married Carl David Porter Sr., who preceded her in death in 2003. She attended Wabash High School, and was a lifetime Wabash/Kosciusko County resident. She had been employed at Sea Nymph Boat Company, Syracuse. She was a former member of the Olive Branch Church of God and regularly attended the weekly Bible study at Greenhaus Apartments in Syracuse. Surviving are three daughters: Melissa (and Bert Mickem) Staton, Syracuse; Angela Brubaker, North Manchester; Corinna Gaff, Kissimmee, Fla.; two sons, Carl “David” (and Tosha Maran) Porter Jr. and Gary (and Tammy Hill) Hapner II, all of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell (and spouse Marilyn) Gamsby Jr., Silver Lake, and Robert (and spouse Sally) Gamsby, Wabash. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ann Moore and Edna Mae Marcum; and brother, Ralph Gamsby Jr. No funeral services are planned.
