Anne Frank, one of the greatest writers who ever lived, died when she was only 15 years old. She is one of Adolf Hitler’s most famous victims and her diary has affected the whole world. Her story is a reminder of the value of freedom and atrocities of history that must never be repeated. On May 23, Michelle Ball presented information to the Pierceton Elementary PTO, focusing on factors that make the Holocaust a unique genocide and distinct historical event as well as a visual timeline of Anne Frank’s life. Ball is a fourth-grade PES teacher and a recipient of a 2010 Teacher Creativity Fellowship grant from the Lilly Endowment. All the information presented was based on research conducted during her European travels and personal interviews from Holocaust specialists as well as Holocaust survivors.
