'Back To The Days' Celebrates 20th YearBack to the Days of Kosciuszko began in 1989 at Lucerne Park and it will mark its 20th anniversary Saturday and Sunday.
One prominent feature of the event in past days was the Grand Ball.
This year the group is holding a Grand Ball Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Sheep Barn at the Kosciusko County Community Fairgrounds.There will be music from the period performed. Karen Andrews will call the dance.
Other plans include a period fashion show at 2 p.m. both days and a "Battle of the Times" twice each day.
This year's re-enactment groups include two medieval groups - The Shire of Dragons Vale and Adrian Empire, mountain men, trappers and traders, a bow maker, an early American military group complete with working cannon, and a Civil War group. Period demonstrations will take place throughout both days. Entertainers include "Ben Franklin", Common Stock Entertainment and Carol Knarr, storyteller.
The Red Brush Mercantile will sell period items from the Logo cabin.
A skillet throwing and knife and hawk throwing contest will take place each day.
The 4-H Blacksmith shop will be open with period blacksmith demonstrations.
The Echoes from the Past antique tractor group is converting the former Back to the Days Blacksmith shop into an old time Feed Store. There will be some activities at this yearís event.
