B. Irene Dome

B. Irene Dome, 96, of Winona Lake, died at 7:38 a.m. Feb. 19, 2011, in Mason Health and Rehab, Warsaw, after a short illness.

She was born May 23, 1914, in Monroe Township, Kosciusko County, to Loyal W. and Lena Frances Palmer Dome.

She spent most of her life in Winona Lake. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives in the county. She was a former member of Altrusa and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Winona Lake, for more than 60 years. For many years she worked in the office of Dr. J.R. Baum. A love of birds was enhanced by membership in the National Audubon Society. A few years ago she was crowned Warsaw Senior Queen. She also belonged to the Kosciusko County Historical Society and helped with guided tours of the Old Jail Museum. Irene also worked on the mobile meals program in the area.

Surviving are five brothers and sisters: Geneva Moore, Nappanee; George Harold Dome, Sidney; Doris Bickett, Sacramento Calif.; David Dome, Lynchburg Mo.; and Margaret Suzanne Townsend, Warsaw; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with the Rev. Rob Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
