Aviation Board Considers Lease Changes

Posted
The Board of Aviation Commisioners met Tuesday and discussed possible revisions to the airport's current land lease.
While the airport plans to keep the old land lease in effect for current tenants, the new and revised land lease would take effect Jan. 1. Among the discussed possible revisions were:
• Instituting a rent adjustment to occur every five years based on changes in the consumer price index.
• Charging tenants 13 cents per square foot of land leased from the airport with a five-foot perimeter around the plot.
• Charging a differential per-square-foot cost for parking spaces.
• Setting clear standards for early termination of leases by either the airport or the tenant.
The airport will have a revised land lease up for vote by next month's meeting.
In other business, the board moved to approve an expenditure of $6,750 to convert both its de-icing vehicles into one trailer. The airport now has a truck that applies liquid de-icing formula to runways and ramps and an agricultural spreader that applies solid de-icing material. The approved conversion will enable one trailer to apply both liquid and solid de-icing materials during the winter months.
The next board meeting is set for Nov. 12 at 5:15 p.m.
