Aviation Board Approves Runway Crack Repairs

Posted
Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners Tuesday approved repairing four cracks in the airport’s runway.
The cracks are on the north end of the runway and three are on the east-west runway.
Reece Seal Coating, Indianapolis, will make the repairs.
Also during the meeting the board approved a $13,623 contract with Alliance Heating for four heaters for the airport shop.
Pam Kennedy, Housing Opportunities executive director, and Kurt Carlson, Bowen Center CEO and HOW board member, presented the commission with a framed T-shirt with signatures of pilots who participated in this year’s air show.
The commission approved seeking quotes to purchase two recliners for the pilot’s lounge area and quotes to remodel the airport bathroom to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
Nick King, airport manager, said he attended the Aviation Association of Indiana conference last week at Swan Lake Resort. Ernie Wiggins, commission member, also attended. A scholarship was presented in memory of Charlie Smith, city council representative to the commission, during the conference.
A moment of silence was held for Smith during Tuesday’s meeting.
The commission will look into price quotes for de-icing equipment for the airport.
