Aviation Board Approves 2012 Budget

In a meeting board members joked may be the shortest in the assembly’s history, the Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners approved its 2012 general budget Tuesday evening.

Within 10 minutes, the board steamed through its agenda and approved a total estimated budget of $763,494 for the 2012 year. That budget figure is up more than $33,000 from the 2010 budget, records show.

Included in the budget are appropriations of $40,000 to replace the entry gates on Hangar Drive and Airport Road, which Airport Manager David Beall said the airport has been “nursing since (Sept. 11, 2001)” and are too old to repair. He said the airport is looking to replace the chain-operated pull gates with rising gates installed by a local company.

The airport budget will now go to City Council for final approval.

In other business, the board approved its fuel usage report for June, as well as its income statement for the month.
