PERU – Avery “Junior” “Eugene” Helton Jr., 81, of Peru, died at 10:20 p.m. April 10, 2013, in Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru. He was born May 16, 1931, in Lombard, Ky., to Avery Sr. and Hazel Tester Helton. On Jan. 9, 1960, in Peru, he married Mildred Pegg, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Michael (and spouse Patricia) Helton, Warsaw; three grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister. He also was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and a sister. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with Pastor Kevin Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru, with military services by members of the Miami County Military Rites Team. Calling is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
