Avalean King, 65, of Warsaw, died at 12:47 a.m. Sept. 30, 2007, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born April 12, 1942, in Hueysville, Ky., to David and Mary Slone Stephens. On April 12, 1964, in Pierceton, she married Larry King, who survives.
Moving to Warsaw in 1952, she was a nurse's aide in Pierceton and a member of Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw. She loved her family, especially her grandson, who was the center of her world.
Also surviving are a son, David (and wife Deanna) King, Winona Lake; a grandson, Dillon David King, Winona Lake; three brothers, the Rev. Bill (and wife Joyce) Stephens, Sidney, and Dwayne (and wife Rita) and Joe (and wife Pam) Stephens, both of Marion, Ohio; and three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Barbara) Keel, South Whitley, and Mrs. Don (Callie) Conrad and Mrs. Franklin (Donna) Fahl, both of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy King, and five brothers and sisters, Geneva, Denver, Thomas and Rondal Stephens and Mildred Faye Miller.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw, with the Rev. Wayne Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
