Autism Awareness

Posted

Students and staff at Pierceton Elementary School wore blue in honor of Autism Awareness Day April 1. Pictured are students in Jennifer McCammon's fourth-grade class with Shannon Fortman and her son, Andrew, who has autism. They are displaying T-shirts they created and posted around the school to promote autism awareness to fellow students at Pierceton Elementary. Andrew's fourth-grade class read stories, created posters, discussed and did activities to learn about disabilities. Fortman was a guest speaker for Andrew's class and also for his younger brother's class to help the children better understand autism and what they can do to be the best friends they can for Andrew and other students with autism. The students were given lots of fun 'loot' promoting the Autism Walk in September.
