Author Barbara Olenyik Morrow visited South Whitley Elementary School recently.
She shared her experiences as an Indiana author and the process she uses to prepare books for publication. She shared ‘Mr. Mosquito Put on his Tuxedo’ with the younger students and ‘A Good Night for Freedom’ for the fourth- and fifth-graders.
Most students were amazed at the time she spent researching, writing and revising stories before being given the final task of editing before a publisher would accept her story. It took about five years to complete ‘A Good Night for Freedom’ from getting the idea and researching to its publishing.
She also had a working lunch with a select group of fourth- and fifth-graders. Her latest book, ‘Nature’s Storyteller: The Life of Gene Stratton-Porter’, came out last fall.
